Walnut Marzipan Chocolates -

With sweet homemade marzipan, walnuts, and dark chocolate  these walnut marzipan truffles are an inspired combination. This traditional German Christmas treat recipe is the perfect idea for an edible gift.

Ingredients

  • 200 g homemade or storebought marzipan or almond paste
  • 150 g ground walnuts
  • 1/4 tsp ground cardamom
  • 5 tbsp pear schnapps or other liqueur like rum
  • 200 g melted dark chocolate

Instructions

  1. If you have whole walnuts, grind them. With your hands, mix the first 4 ingredients until well incorporated. Chill this mix for about 2 hours.
  2. Using low, controlled heat, melt the chocolate in a double boiler. You can also melt the chocolate in the microwave
  3. With a melon baller form little balls and dip them into the melted chocolate.
  4. Let the truffles set at room temperature and store in a dark, cool place.
