No-Bake Tiramisu Truffles are my new favorite easy homemade chocolate treat for any special occasion that calls for small edible gifts. If you are a fan of coffee, or tiramisu flavor desserts in general and a fan of Socado and Godiva Truffles in particular, these are for you! 

Tiramisu Truffles are soft and sweet with a subtle espresso and almond flavor. These little homemade chocolate balls have all the flavor of the classic Italian dessert we all love! They melt in your mouth and are every bit as decadent as a piece of tiramisu but so fast and easy to make.

Tiramisu – the dessert of lovers

Culinary legend has it that tiramisu was invented in Treviso, a small city in the romantic region of Veneto, supposedly to help caffeinate the Venetian lovers. Without a doubt tiramisu is a dessert meant for sharing with a loved one on a special occasion like Valentine’s Day

In these Tiramisu truffles, we use all the ingredients found in classic tiramisu. There’s a bit of espresso, mascarpone and chocolate.

There is no baking required, which means this chocolate truffle recipe is simple! You can also easily freeze the truffles for later.

Ingredients for Tiramisu Truffles

  • instant espresso powder⁠ = coffee would work too
  • amaretto almond liqueur⁠ – you could use rum or marsala instead
  • ladyfinger⁠ – you find them in most grocery stores
  • mascarpone or cream cheese (or vegan cream cheese)⁠
  • soft butter – I use salted butter. If using unsalted add some salt (or vegan butter)⁠
  • vanilla⁠ extract
  • sugar – to taste. The cookies are already sweet but I do recommend you add 2 tbsp icing sugar to the mix
  • 4 drops of rum flavor (optional)⁠ – I just love it
  • orange zest (optional)⁠ 
  • cocoa⁠ – unsweetened

Can I make these Tiramisu Truffles vegan?

Yes – make these a totally vegan chocolate truffle by using vegan cream cheese an earth balance instead of butter

Tips: 

  • How to store tiramisu truffles: Place your homemade truffles in an airtight container and store in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
  • You can also freeze truffles: Place your tiramisu  truffles in an airtight container with parchment paper between layers. Freeze for up to 3 months.
  • I like the no-nonsense approach, so I roll my truffles in cocoa powder. But if you feel fancy, you can dip the truffles into melted chocolate:

FOR DIPPING TRUFFLES IN CHOCOLATE

There are a few tricks to getting perfectly round chocolate-covered truffles. The best tip is to freeze the truffles for 10 minutes before dipping them in chocolate. This will help them maintain their shape when dipped into the warm chocolate. 

You will want chocolate that is evenly melted and smooth before dipping. Tempering the chocolate will give the best results.

Tiramisu Truffles

No Bake Tiramisu Truffles are soft and sweet with a subtle espresso and almond flavor. These little homemade chocolate truffles have all the flavor of the classic Italian dessert we all love! They melt in your mouth and are every bit as decadent as a piece of tiramisu but so fast and easy to make.

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp instant espresso powder⁠
  • 6 tbsp amaretto almond liqueur⁠
  • 250 g ladyfinger⁠
  • 250 g mascarpone or cream cheese or vegan cream cheese⁠
  • 100 g soft butter or vegan butter⁠
  • 1 tsp vanilla⁠
  • 2 tbsps icing sugar
  • 4 drops of rum flavor optional⁠
  • 1/2 teaspoon orange zest optional⁠
  • 100 g cocoa⁠

Instructions

  1. Dissolve the espresso powder in the amaretto.⁠
  2. Crush the ladyfingers. (Put in a freezer bag and smash with a rolling pin or grind in a food processor).⁠
  3. Beat together butter and mascarpone with vanilla, rum aroma, and orange zest with a hand beater, then pour the amaretto mixture over biscuit crumbs and knead together with the mascarpone butter.⁠ Taste the mix and add sugar if needed. It should be a cookie-dough like mix.

  4. Chill the mixture for 30 - 45 minutes to let it set.⁠
  5. Form small balls and roll them in the cocoa.⁠
  6. Store in the refrigerator or in the freezer. The alcohol prevents them from getting too hard in the freezer so you can just take them out of the freezer, let them sit for a couple of minutes, and enjoy. ⁠

    Noch ein super Rezept, das ich mir unbedingt merken muss. Geht einfach und schnell und man hat ein tolles Dessert

    Traumhaft! Ich habe gleich eine große Portion gemacht und die Hälfte eingefroren. Am besten ließen sich die nur in Kakao gewälzten einfrieren, hätte ich nicht gedacht. Sind jetzt bestimmt schon seit 2 Monaten im Gefrierschrank und bei Bedarf aufgetaut, was wirklich schnell geht. Schmecken immer noch super!
