We are talking about a rich, dark chocolate cake made with not only a quarter-cup of instant espresso but an entire cup or whiskey!<\/p>\n<p>Yes that is ONE CUP, of Irish whiskey. Or any whiskey, Jack Daniels, Bourbon&#8230;whatever you want. There is whisky in the batter, and then there is a drizzle as well. I\u2019m guessing that I used 1 1\/2tbsp worth in all.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>This Irish cake has a soft, moist, tightly woven crumb, and it makes the kitchen smell like winter and warmth and cozy dinner parties. It smells very chocolatey and very boozy and this is what it tastes like.<\/p>\n<p>I like to cut a little slice while the cake is still a bit warm, and eating it, standing over the kitchen counter. I&#8217;ll just say 1 cup of whiskey&#8230;.PLUS more for soaking. But don&#8217;t worry, the Irish car bomb of a chocolate cake doesn&#8217;t ONLY taste like whiskey.<\/p>\n<p>If you can, try to make this whisky-soaked chocolate bundt cake a day before you want to serve it, to allow the flavors to mellow and meld. On the first day, the flavor of the whiskey threatens to overpower the chocolate, but after a little overnight rest, the perfect balance is achieved and the chocolate and whiskey compliment each other instead of competing.<\/p>\n<p>I could have sipped the cake batter out of a martini glass with a straw. But in this case, it&#8217;s worth the wait here!<\/p>\n<p>Because after baking, the juicy chocolate cake is soaked in whiskey again!&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I love serving this with a dollop of cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Or even an Irish coffee?<\/p>\n<p>By the way, the chocolate cake lasts forever. Although it is made almost exactly like bourbon, and pretty much tastes like bourbon, Jack Daniel\u2019s is a little bit different so its makers prefer to call it Tennessee whiskey.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div role=\"heading\" data-attrid=\"wa:\/description\" aria-level=\"3\" data-hveid=\"CAcQAA\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h2 role=\"heading\" data-attrid=\"wa:\/description\" aria-level=\"3\" data-hveid=\"CAcQAA\">Make a simple chocolate glaze<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div role=\"heading\" data-attrid=\"wa:\/description\" aria-level=\"3\" data-hveid=\"CAcQAA\">This chocolate ganache glaze is the perfect finishing touch to this cake. 2 ingredients only<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h3 role=\"heading\" data-attrid=\"wa:\/description\" aria-level=\"3\" data-hveid=\"CAcQAA\">Ingredients<\/h3>\n<div class=\"ymu2Hb\">\n<ul>\n<li role=\"heading\" data-attrid=\"wa:\/description\" aria-level=\"3\" data-hveid=\"CAcQAA\">2\/3 cup heavy cream<\/li>\n<li role=\"heading\" data-attrid=\"wa:\/description\" aria-level=\"3\" data-hveid=\"CAcQAA\">1 cup semi sweet chocolate chips or chopped chocolate<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Method<\/h3>\n<p>In a saucepan over medium heat, add cream and bring to a simmer. Reduce heat to low and add the chocolate chips and whisk just until chocolate chips are melted. I also like adding a pinch of salt here.<\/p>\n<p>Continue whisking until ganache is shiny and smooth. Dont heat it again. Let cool 15-20 minutes. Drizzle ganache over the cooked whisky cake.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h2>Recipe tips:<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Use high-quality chocolate with at least 75% cocoa content.<\/li>\n<li>Be sure to let your butter come to room temperature. You can simply take them out of the fridge the day before.<\/li>\n<li>Don&#8217;t forget to grease your cake pan well.<\/li>\n<li>To keep the cake batter from curdling when you add the eggs, I always add a tablespoon of flour to the batter for each egg. It also helps to have the eggs at room temperature.
