Brandy Cherry Ice Cream with Chocolate Chips<\/h2>\n

We are moving! AGAIN. For the 8th time within 4 years! This time we’re not leaving the country though – not even the city. We’re just gonna move further towards downtown.<\/p>\n

Growing up in a small German town, I really miss being able to walk places, like the grocery store or even to and from the bar at night.<\/p>\n

Now we live within walking distance from both trendy Kensington and Downtown. Plus we’ve got this awesome new kitchen with all the counter space I could have hoped for.<\/p>\n

I am aware of the fact that the free counter space will last two days max – basically until I unpack all my kitchen appliances. I already wonder where to hide my ice cream maker, which I lovingly dubbed the Moaning Myrtle. That’s gonna be the first thing our neighbors will complain about.<\/p>\n

This summer is just the summer of homemade ice cream for me. As we got to harvest all my in law’s cherry trees and ended up with a worryingly copious amount of brandied cherries already, I thought I might hide some of them in an adult-only ice cream.<\/p>\n

A boozy summer ice cream inspired by those Mon Cherie Brandy Cherry Chocolates I like so much.<\/p>\n

How to make Brandy Cherry Ice Cream with Chocolate Chips: <\/h3>\n

The Ice Cream Base is adapted from Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams at Home<\/a>\"\" but instead of cream cheese Jeni normally uses, I opted for spreadable goat cheese.<\/p>\n

I just love how the slight tang from the goat cheese contrasts with the sweet brandy cherry swirl. If you are not a fan of goat cheese, by all means, leave it out and use regular cream cheese! <\/p>\n

Chunks of fresh cherries (or Brandy Cherries) and some dark chocolate chips add some texture and turn this ice cream into a gourmet dessert.<\/p>\n

\"homemadeI was taking the brandy part of this Brandy Cherry Ice Cream quite seriously! In addition to the brandy cherry swirl, I also added a couple of tablespoons to the base. And not only for taste!<\/p>\n

The addition of alcohol actually lowers the freezing point of the ice cream, helping it stay creamier and smoother.<\/p>\n

And of course, it makes this Chocolate Chips Cherry Ice Cream even more delicious!<\/p>\n

I also added some dark chocolate and some chopped Brandy Cherries to the ice cream while it was churning.<\/p>\n

For the Brandy Cherry Swirl, I reduced the liquid from the Brandy Cherry Jar.<\/p>\n

If you can’t get your hands on Brandy Cherries, you can just use cherry juice and brandy for the syrup (see recipe)  and fresh cherries.<\/p>\n
