Why not start your day with a hot bowl of Banana Brownie Batter Oatmeal?

Brownie Batter for breakfast, you guys! You heard me. Yes, it sounds like eating a day’s worth of calories for breakfast. But trust me, these Morning Oats only taste and look like a sinful chocolate dessert. In fact, it’s a really healthy and with only 200 calories, also a light breakfast.

Add unsweetened Organic Cocoa Powder for the brownie batter look!

We get the dark chocolate-y brownie batter look by adding unsweetened, Organic Cacao Powder. A hint of vanilla helps to further boost our chocolate brownie flavor!

For extra sweetness and potassium, we also add a mashed banana to the brownie batter porridge. Chocolate and banana! A no-brainer.

Use nut milk to create a vegan version of my Brownie Batter Oatmeal!

I used this Unsweetened Hazelnut Milk  instead of full-fat milk and loved the result. The hazelnut milk adds an extra nuttiness to our Brownie Batter Oatmeal!

Also, for sweetness, I opted for stevia instead of sugar, which, together with the pureed banana, adds enough sweetness to make these Brownie Batter Morning Oats taste perfect. Feel free to add the nut milk of your choice.

Ingredients

  • Tbsp walnuts or almonds
  • 1 ripe banana mashed plus more for decor
  • 50 g rolled oats
  • 250 ml hazelnut milk or other nut milk
  • 1 1/2 tbsp  stevia
  • 2 tbsp unsweetened cacao
  • tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Chop the nuts and toast them in a pan until fragrant. Mash half of the banana with a fork and slice the other half.

  2. Put oats in a pot, add milk and stevia as well as the pinch of salt, vanilla, and cocoa powder. Stir everything together and bring to a simmer on medium heat.

  3. Turn down the heat and let the oatmeal thicken for about 10 to 15 minutes,  stirring often.

  4. Add the mashed banana towards the end, stir well and serve with the sliced banana and nuts sprinkled on top.

Recipe Notes

The riper the banana, the less stevia you will need!
